Project management for researchers (module B)

Beskrivelse

This course is aimed at researchers across Aalborg University (AAURA and other scientific staff), who wish to strengthen their personal skills in the various aspects of managing a project.

Module B: The Project Manager and the group

As a natural follow-up on Project Management for Researchers – Module A, this Module B will train the participants’ ability as project managers to plan and co-ordinate the group's work, including methods and techniques to engage the team members and achieve common ownership.

Module B includes intensive training. The participants will alternately train the leadership of the group by using the project tools from Module A. We will also train preparing and conducting a meeting with the client/steering committee. Module B is set up as a "project simulator" with a feedback system in a rewarding environment. The participants work with a multi-disciplinary case, which is relevant for all disciplines in science, both for the "wet" and the "dry" areas of science.

The participants' personal preferences
Composition of the project group
Establishment of groups
Group norms
Feedback culture in the project group
Preparing your own project-manager training
Project work "live"
Own role as the leader of the group
Feedback to the project manager
Advice about presentation for the steering committee
Steering committee meetings
Project presentations – training and shared learning
Evaluation of the group’s work
Learning points in relation to research projects
Personal action-plans

This Module B will be based on the book from module A, "Power in Projects, Programs and Portfolios" (in danish: "Power i projekter og portefølje" af John Ryding Olsson, Niels Ahrengot & Mette Lindegaard Attrup).
