For persons in late stages of dementia, music plays an important role in meaning-making, regulation and social engagement, and music therapy shows decreases in behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. In the lecture, I will present a theoretical understanding of music in dementia as well as ongoing research in the use of music in dementia care, and how music may be integrated in person-attuned interactions in therapy and in everyday activities.
