As China looks to 6G, the US has no spectrum auctions, no pipeline, and no plan

In an article in the SCIF, Dr Roslyn Layton, an international technology expert who studies the economics, security, and geopolitics of broadband, writes that China is on its way to surpass the US in regards to mobile wireless economy. "China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) just announced that it would designate the 6 GHz band for 5G and 6G, the world's first country to do so," Dr Layton writes. Meanwhile, the US has no spectrum in the pipeline for auction. Dr Layton is Senior Vice President of Strand Consult and Visiting Researcher at Aalborg University Copenhagen, where she earned a doctorate in internet economics.
