Industry experts came together at COP27 to address the need to decrease the carbon footprint of the building and construction sector. As leaders of the industry, the participants at the COP27 were made aware of a need to harmonise and standardise the implementation of net zero emission buildings. Harpa Birgisdottir, Professor of sustainable building research at Aalborg University, pointed to Denmark's recent progress in codifying and capping carbon emissions for different building types as a good example of how such standardisation might be implemented on a larger scale.
