Beskrivelse

Researchers from Aalborg University, among others, have successfully extracted ancient DNA from a 2,900-year-old clay brick from the palace of Neo-Assyrian king Ashurnasirpal II. The team, including Nadieh de Jonge, Cino Pertoldi and Jeppe Lund Nielsen from the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience at Aalborg University, identified 34 distinct taxonomic groups of plants from the DNA. The research serves as a proof of concept for studying ancient biodiversity and understanding lost civilisations.(Summary provided by Infomedia) Sources:Nature Cell Biology, 22-08-2023Knowledia News (US), 23-08-2023myscience International, 22-08-2023Mirage news, 22-08-2023EurekAlert, 22-08-2023Scienmag, 22-08-2023MyScience UK, 22-08-2023
