    Beskrivelse

    Research Focus
The aim of the Integrative Physiology and Critical Care Laboratory is to perform experimental work and support technology development to address clinically relevant problems, primarily in critical care. Experimental work encompasses bench studies, evaluation of technology and basic research of human physiology. The lab primarily supports experiments with measurements of cardiopulmonary function and metabolism during rest and exercise. Measurements are often combined with mathematical physiological modeling.

    Specialized Equipment
    - Mixing of gases for breathing in human experiments (Air, O2, CO2, N2)
    - Mechanical ventilators
    - Metabolic cart for spirometry and cardiopulmonary exercise tests (CPETs)
    - Bicycle ergometers
    - Measurement of inhaled and exhaled gases (O2 and CO2)
    - Measurement of respiratory mechanics during rest and exercise, including flows, volumes and airway, esophageal and gastric pressures
    - Non-invasive measurement of hemodynamics (incl. cardiac output, blood pressures and vascular resistances)
    - Pulse co-oximetry
    - Experimental setups for loaded and controlled breathing
    - Lung simulators for bench studies of simulated breathing
