    Beskrivelse

    Research Focus
We are developing brain-machine systems that allow subjects to control external devices using brain activity. To this aim, machine learning is used to train a pattern classification system to recognize the change in the brain activity produced when the subject intends to move. The detected intention is then translated into commands for the device. Such systems can be used to restore motor functions that are lost due to a disease or injury of the nervous system, but also as a communication channel for a highly disabled patient. In our work, we focus particularly on methods that enable to increase the bandwidth of communication, i.e., the number and rate of commands that can be transmitted by the interface.
