    Beskrivelse

    Research Focus:
The primary research focus of the Laboratory for Locomotion is to investigate the interplay between the motor control signals sent from the central nervous system (CNS) and the sensory signals sent back to the CNS during human walking. A deeper understanding of the sensory-motor interaction during walking can be used to develop better methods and techniques for rehabilitation after injuries to the CNS.

    Specialised Equipment:
    • Split-belt treadmill with inbuilt force sensors
    • Safety harness system with hydraulic actuator
    • Robotic actuator system for ankle and knee joint perturbations during walking
    • Electromyography (EMG) for measuring muscle activity
    • Electrogoniometry for measuring joint angles
    • Force sensitive resistors for measuring foot contact during walking
    • Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) with BrainSight neuro-navigation for measuring corticospinal excitability
    • Electroencephalography (EEG) for measuring brain activity
    • Electrical stimulators for peripheral nerve stimulation
