    Beskrivelse

The lab facilities host a number of work spaces and equipment, which are used by both students and researchers in the many different experimental activities.

    • Measurement tools: the WCN section has access to a number of professional measurement tools and equipment ranging from spectrum analyzers or radio network scanners to high-performance smartphones. These devices are used to monitor or measure relevant KPIs in real wireless networks (2G, 3G, 4G, WiFi, WiMaX). The use of the collected data is typically used in studies related to channel modeling or radio network planning and optimization of mobile radio networks.

    • Dedicated tools: The section maintains a set of own developed link and system level simulation tools for performance analysis of 4G and 5G communication systems.

    • NetMap: it is a crowd sourcing based measurement system of wireless connections (WiFi, 2G, 3G, 4G). The client software is an Android application that performs connection performance measurements towards a server, and collects a long range of context information of the device at each measurement.
