Power Electronics System Integration and Materials” (PESIM) section at AAU Energy, Aalborg University, focuses on integration of advanced power electronic systems and the use of cutting-edge materials to address the challenges of modern energy applications.

Key areas of expertise include wide bandgap semiconductors, packaging of power electronic components, developing magnetic components, building power converters, energy systems integration, all driven by advancing properties of materials, batteries, computer power and artificial intelligence. 

The section uses an interdisciplinary approach combining electrical engineering, power electronic systems modeling and control, materials science for magnetics and batteries, semiconductors plus mathematical modeling related to AI. The section has a number of renewable energy projects on technologies including electrification of transportation, manufacturing of components as power modules and magnetics, AI and batteries, more efficient industrial process machines and resilient smart grids. 

The section has a strategy and commitment to bridge fundamental research with commercial relevance, the section is dynamically following the society needs and grow scientific specialists who are responsible for research-based education and qualified to conduct external projects and be a part of commercial society. The section focuses on publication of research at international conferences and journals opening for academic networks. 

Through collaboration with industry partners, academic institutions, and our global research networks, the section contributes to solving some of the most pressing energy challenges. With state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and a collaborative working environment, the section empowers students, researchers, and industry professionals to innovate and lead in the transformative field of power electronics.
