Personlig profil

Filip Gertz Lysdal is a Lecturer at St Mary's University, Twickenham London, where he is teaching biomechanics at the Sports Rehabilitation education at BSc and MSc level - with a strong emphasis on the importance of mechanisms of injury in relation to injury prevention and rehabilitation.

His research is centred around those same fields - with a strong focus on external risk factors for athletic injury.

Although based in London, Filip is still connected to Danish academia as an external research- and teaching assistant at Aalborg University, as well as a Nationally Appointed Examiner in health science subjects.

Filip received his entire educational upbringing at the School of Medicine and Health at Aalborg University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in sports science in 2014, and his master’s degree in sports technology in 2016. Before graduating, Filip had an exchange semester at German Sport University Cologne in 2015, where he also wrote his master’s thesis in 2016 in collaboration with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

In 2021, Filip received his PhD degree in Biomedical Science and Engineering from The Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology at the Department of Health Science and Technology, Aalborg University. Filip was enrolled under the Industrial PhD scheme – supported by Innovation Fund Denmark and Spraino ApS, where he simultaneously worked as a Scientific Project Manager. Hereafter, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) until September 2022.

Filip is an active member in multiple scientific communities, including Hong Kong Association of Sports Medicine and Sports Science, International Society of Biomechanics, Footwear Biomechanics Group, Danish Society of Biomechanics, American College of Sports Medicine, International Ankle Consortium, International Foot and Ankle Biomechanics Community, Japanese Society of Biomechanics, and International Society of Biomechanics in Sports.

It is obvious that Filip is a social fellow, and he has been very active in attending conferences both nationally and internationally, at which he has given multiple oral and poster presentations, as well as being an invited symposia speaker and workshop holder. Filip has received multiple awards for his conference contributions and presentations, as well as receiving more than a handful travel grants.
