I am a philosopher of science and a social scientist (both at a PhD level) with a genuine passion and commitment to inter-/cross-disciplinary research mainly, combining theories and methods from the philosophy/ethics/social epistemology, normative economics, the empirical social sciences/techno-anthropology and the social policy field.

My research interests span from the foundations of normative economics, multidimensional welfare and social/health indicators research to digitalization and datafication processes in the public sector, and how they should take place in liberal democracies (including “AI ethics by design” and the “Citizen Science” paradigm).

At present, my research agenda concentrates on the following main lines of investigation, those converge on the goal of re-addressing how science and technology are developed, adopted, resisted, and translated in practice in liberal democracies.

Briefly, I am mainly working on:

 1) values, objectivity & social knowledge in wellbeing and health research in economics (and related disciplines e.g., public health)  and foundations of economic methodology (econometrics)

2) foundations of technological design methods for WB and AI for the social good; particularly, value-sensitive design methods holding an inclusive and participatory rationale.

My aim is to promote the systematic engagement of users/stakeholders in the creation of AI-based technologies, AI systems/infrastructures, predictive algorithms and automated algorithmic decision-making for the public sector (with a special attention for digital health and digital welfare tools).

3) adaptation/re-conceptualization of the Citizen Science paradigm in different research fields (AI ethics, Applied AI, algorithmic decision-making and digital tools for marine biology)
