Pain is the most common and prevalent disease worldwide. My scientific interest lies in understanding why some individuals develop chronic pain, particularly given that pain cannot always be fully explained by peripheral physiological changes as CNS is partly responsible for chronification. I want to understand the role of different brain networks in pain perception, with the ultimate aim of informing the development of more effective and personalized treatment strategies for patients.
