Izhar Mithal Jiskani is an educator and interdisciplinary researcher working with impact assessment to integrate social and environmental dimensions. His work is rooted in sustainable mining, covering both land-based operations and deep-sea mining (DSM) as part of efforts to support the global energy transition. He advocates for a model where mining is not only economically viable but also socially responsible and environmentally sound. His research also includes impact and sustainability assessment in other sectors, including construction, wind energy, agriculture, and carbon capture.

For the past 10 years, he has taught at all levels, from bachelor’s to PhD, in multiple countries, and has supervised numerous students. He is pedagogically trained in the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, having completed the University Pedagogical Development (UP) program at Aalborg University. His academic activities also include serving as an external examiner and subject expert for PhD and master’s theses, as well as participating in university committees and advisory roles. He contributes to scholarly work through editorial responsibilities and peer review and prioritises knowledge dissemination through invited talks and seminars. He believes that education and awareness are essential for creating societal impact.
