I am a trained anthropologist, applying well-known and novel methods to the study of technologies in practice. I am particularly interested in fractured and broken technologies, and thus have been working on cyber(in)security and repair or maintenance of digital infrastructures in particular. I draw inspiration from Science and Technology Studies, Anthropology and Human Computer Interaction. As part of TANTlab I am trying to craft spaces to experiment with and recombine concepts, computational methods and ethnographic insights. I recently published my first monograph titled Fragile Computing - How To Live With Insecure Technologies (Palgrave Macmillan 2024)

Undervisningsprofil

I teach what I study and what makes me passionate about my work. Most of my courses involve some part of ethnographic fieldwork and analysis, and often digital methods to reflect/compare. I am also teaching human factors in cybersecurity and feminist Science and Technology Studies courses. I have co-supervised several participatory data ethnographies (http://datastories.rub.de/), where students immersed in fields to understand and articulate interlocutor's concerns and co-design data stories.
