I am an internationally active and acclaimed curator and associate professor of interactive media art and sound art at Aalborg University, Denmark.

I generally work with media and sound in transdisciplinary, constructive, critical and creative maker settings and developing theory and ideas from those settings. I have a background as a professional curator at contemporary art museums with a focus on sound art (via the legacy from Fluxus mostly). And more currently (last 15 years or so), I teach sound and sound art and media art in theory and practice. Recently, my focus seems to have shifted a bit towards three trajectories: 1. sound and media curation and research in alternate contexts, post-curating or uncurating of sorts. 2. Archiving the unarchived, the silent agencies and unheard avant-gardes. Developing a theory of the exclusion-mechanisms in the aesthetics systems of 20th Century art worlds 3. towards a sound practice drawing it seems on my early background as a sound practitioner (and singer) in the 80s and early 90s in transinternational exchange with other sound artists, cross-boundary, with a certain focus on words and sound as performative agencies.

From my practice I share these two links: The first is the result from the transdisciplinary project, Media Art Platform, in Roskilde 2004-2005, The Audiobar. Created together with Mogens Jacobsen, I curated and co-created conceptually this project which is still functional: https://www.mogensjacobsen.dk/mobile_showwork.php?pid=10

The other link is from the Sound Paper I made for Seismograf in 2017, Origo: https://seismograf.org/fokus/sound-art-matters/origo-climbing-the-pyramid-of-the-sun-in-teotihuacan

On top of my own sound practice, I am presently engaged with sound curation and developing curatorial methodologies of archiving in various contexts, including in the European NeMe network, the LARM infrastructure network in Denmark (2010-2014), SUNY college in New York, Struer Sounding City in Denmark and Momentum Festival in Norway.

I am the founder of the conference series POM – Politics of the Machines (with Laura Beloff) (since 2017) and ISACS - International Sound Art Curating Symposia (w Peter Weibel) (2010-2017).

I am the AAU academic director of the Erasmus Master of Excellence in Media Arts Cultures (Since 2015).

Since 1994, I have curated exhibitions at international venues in the field of art, sound, science and media - Kiasma (Helsinki), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Rupertinum (Salzburg), Tacheles (Berlin), Ars Electronica (Linz), Eyebeam (New York), Utzon Center (Aalborg), Kunsthal Aarhus (Aarhus), Momentum Biennial (Moss, Norway) and Museum of Contemporary art (Roskilde).
