Although the beauty and complexity of the nervous system is mesmerizing, I aim for more than understanding it. My goal is to restore functions lost due to disease or injury using neuromodulation.
This interest was the reason to pursue a master’s education in Denmark. Since then, I have worked with electrical stimulation to relieve incontinence in industry, during my PhD and via Meijs Biomed.
Since my post doc, I have been working with pain and neuroplasticity. I have developed two chronic pain models, where pain sensitivity and brain plasticity is investigated in pigs up to 8 weeks after implantation of a cranial window to the brain. In my current DFF Inge Lehmann project, these models are used to investigate novel spinal cord stimulation paradigms to relieve chronic pain.
