Affect, Duty, Action, Movement: Polish and Danish scout and guide volunteers' civic engagement in response to the Ukraine war

Projektdetaljer

Beskrivelse

An exploratory study of volunteering in response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis in 2022-2023. The reearch will involve interviews carried out with volunteers in Poland and Denmark in an attempt to capture similarities and differences in the way individuals understand and react to the humanitarian crisis initiated by the Russian invasion in Feb. 2022.

The qualitative research will be carried out in autumn and winter 2023/24 and is expected to yield new knowledge in four key areas:
1: Affect - how do emotions affect volunteers in their engagement with refugees/other Ukrainians?
2: Duty - what values can motivate volunteers to engage with refugees/other Ukranians?
3: Activity - what forms of action has been taken by volunteers and/or the civil society organisations they identify with?
4: Movement - what types of organising/organisation support individual volunteers in their work with refugees/other Ukranians?
