Industrial design stands at the intersection between culture, society and innovation, therefore, design education and systems should reflect this. But with current curricula being viewed through a Eurocentric lens, design student outlooks are limited to a Western perspective, and lesser to other cultures and societies. We use the blend approach as a way of integrating indigenous cultures into the design process. This work was carried out through the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand and so focuses on the integration of the indigenous Māori culture and more specifically mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge).
