Collaboration and Decision Support in Imperfect and Uncertain Information Environments-<em>the Arctic as a case</em> (COLD)

The COLD project aims at assisting decision makers in imperfect and uncertain information environments with tools for intelligent utilization of the information through advanced management of the imperfections and uncertainty.  For this aim, COLD has chosen the Arctic as a framework for use cases and scenarios to provide the end-user drive of the project. Due to the climate changes, many Arctic projects are set up in various research areas. These projects involve various international institutes who face specific collaboration problems which are generic by nature: working with badly identified, independently developed, rapidly growing, incommensurable databases. The project will be driven by scenarios in concrete, given scientific community and a business use cases. The "Arctic as a case" as drive for the requirements will be applied to derive a generic COLD system aiming broad at professional users and decision maker, but with a particular strength for applications characterized by imperfect and uncertain information, such as the health sector, security intelligence, and competitive business intelligence.
