Communication and Visualisation of Geographic Information

The purpose of this project is to put more emphasis on communication and visualisation of geographic information but also to point out and to develop the new possibilities for the use of geographic information in the society. New principles for communication and visualization of geographic information in digital media will be defined that takes the screen properties into account and allow full flexibility in composition and design. A special focus is put on the human interaction with the computer to ensure optimal use for both professional and private persons amateurs. Also different users response on new map types must be investigated. Consequently this project will focus on, not only developing and description of new ways of communicating and visualizing geographic information but also the investigation of the perceptual properties of the new map types (by user tests) and the new map types influence on the structuring of geographic data set. Provisional results are the last four years presented at national and international conferences and seminars. (Hanne Brande-Lavridsen)
