The problem is an old unsolved canonical problem of electromagnetics. We consider an incident field scattered by a dielectric cone with circular cross section. The problem is to construct the scattered field. Of special interest will be to find a resonnable good way to construct numerically the far field. All "classical methods" fail for a succesful construction of the scattered field. The method of the present research will be based on a new integral equation formulation of the diffraction problem. The results of the research allready achieved will be presented at an international conference in 2004.
