Beskrivelse
Our previous studies have demonstrated that hypoxia has an effect on the differentiation of chondroprogenitor cells in the mouse model. In this project, we are exploring how different levels of hypoxia affect chondrogenesis of primary mesenchymal stem cells derived from fat tissue using a standard 2-D culture system or a 3-D micropellet culture system. To obtain a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the phenotypical responses, molecular studies will include DNA microchip transcriptional profiling, RT-PCR analysis of specific genes, and DNA methylation epigenetic studies. The project is supported by the Danish Medical Research Council and a private donation from the Carlsberg Foundation. Persons involved: V. Zachar, L. Pilgaard.
