The objective of the project is to explore aspects of methodology and application of regularization and dimension reduction techniques for modeling survival data in epidemiological studies where predictors are high-dimensional and correlated. Emphasis is on both statistical and epidemiological issues, in particular on investigating and developing methods which are ‘in demand' by epidemiologists. An integral part of the project is a close collaboration with epidemiologists working on the prospective Danish cohort "Diet Cancer and Health". Ongoing medical research projects in the study of the effect of lipids on the risk of heart disease serve as inspiration and motivations for the methodological developments.
