Increased Efficiency of Wave Energy by Using Pressurized Cyclone Reservoirs


The purpose of the project is to develop a pressurized oil reservoir including a cyclone part, to reduce the need for booster circuitry in Wave Energy Converters (WECs) and hereby lower the cost of energy (CoE) for WECs. Included in the design is a cyclone part, that is part of the filtering system used to separate debris from the oil. The goal of the project is to hereby simplify the PTO system design and increase PTO-system efficiency by approx. 5%, while reducing wear and maintenance of the plants. It is expected that the concept/technology may be transferred to other industries and systems that require a pressurized low pressure line.
