    Beskrivelse

Knowledge cannot be expressed in a simple formula or written up in a book and then exchanged for cash. So when two companies want to create new capabilities by combining their expertise in a unique way, they must first create knowledge links to enable their personnel and information systems to work together closely. The development of new information technology has made it possible to share information/data, and sometimes knowledge, at the click of a mouse regardless of distance, but mere technological prowess is no guarantee for a glitch-free knowledge sharing process. Operating on the tenet that it is more cost effective for companies to develop a close partnership with a single supplier, and thereby improve quality and their logistics processes, etc., this project will first focus on how the collaboration in a supply chain be configured so as to optimize the processes of knowledge sharing and creation between the implicated organizations. Next, this project will focus how these organizations may utilize IT to support these processes. Moreover, this project also features the active involvement of the CO-IMPROVE and IMERAS project groups. Data derived from research conducted by these groups constitutes the empirical basis for the study at hand. The IMARES group has contributed data concerning Løgstør Rør and the Martin Group, while data from the CO-IMPROVE context concerns Sauer-Danfoss, K.P. Komponenter, Dania and Rea.
