Beskrivelse

The increase of power generation based on renewable systems as wind and solar sources requires special considerations for power management in electrical networks. The power management can be done using conventional power plants or energy storage systems. Conventional power plants are more efficient, having a stationary or predictive load situation. Since wind and solar energy production is fluctuating significantly, a storage system can be used to reduce the fluctuations. The aim of this project is to design a power electronics interface between a battery bank and the grid for a battery energy storage system. Low voltage and medium voltage solutions will be adopted. The project is made in cooperation with E.ON Energy Research Center from RWTH Aachen University, Germany.
