Metoder til effektiv udnyttelse af værksinterne varmekilder med varmepumper

Projektdetaljer

Beskrivelse

Studies have shown that there are several unexploited but suitable internal heat sources available for heat pumps at district heating plants and CHP plants. Plant internal heat sources is here defined as heat sources taken from a process stream, is further upgraded and fed back in a process stream internally at the heat producing system.
An example is cooling at the cold section of a heat storage tank where the energy is moved to the top of the tank by a heat pump. The potential advantages by this example is that a colder stream from the tank will lead to a reduction in heat loss towards e.g. a nearby solar plant or increase the performance of e.g. an associated flue gas cooler. The heat pump can also run independent of the associated district heating plant, which makes it possible produce independent of the heat demand. This is just one example of utilization of a plant internal heat source. In general, exploitation of internal heat sources with heat pumps leads to increased RE integration, higher performance for the district heating plants and reduced transmission losses.
It has proven to be impossible to use the most applied (in the district heating sector) process modelling software, energyPRO for this problem. The analytical method, which is used in energyPRO can’t handle calculations with internal heat sources and heat pumps. Therefore, there is reason to expect that such unexploited energy potentials are lost when no easy accessible tool for assessment of the problem are available. At the same time, associated opportunities such as smart system operation and flexible energy consumption will therefore also be lost.
The aim of the project is to exemplify and inform about heat pumps drawing heat from process internal heat sources and the associated pros and cons. The target group is district-heating plants, consultancy firms and energy planners in the Danish district heating industry. Furthermore, the project has the aim of developing a method and calculation module for energyPRO, which supports heat pumps using internal heat sources.
As the subsidy scheme “grundbeløbet” ends for many district heating plants already at year-end 2018, the relevance of the present project is very high. Many district heating plants needs to apply changes to their current production setup to remain competitive. The project has a relative short lead-time due to the high relevance of the project and early reporting of the findings in the project has high prioritization.
The goal of the project is to develop a method and a modelling tool to support integration of heat pumps in the Danish district heating sector. Besides this, the project also aims to inform the district heating sector about opportunities concerning exploitation of internal heat sources with heat pumps. In general, the project will support:
• Exploitation of unutilized internal heat sources by modelling tool development
• Advertising the opportunities by a targeted information campaign, catalogue publication concerning the opportunities, newsletters, etc.
• Green transition towards more RE by utilizing heat pump technology together with other RE sources, last-mentioned may already be installed at the plants
• Increased occupation within energy consultancy, project works and IT export to the Danish and European energy marked
• Opportunities for smart energy production, heat storage and flexible consumption which are the future for the energy supply today
