Model-based geostatistics

In model-based geostatistics, parametric statistical models and likelihood-based methods are used to solve geostatistical problems. An introduction to model-based geostatistics has been prepared and will be published in a book on spatial and computational statistics. We have furthermore written a paper on analysis of spatial data using the transformed Gaussian model where the methods are applied to interpolation of rainfall. Finally a package for the statistical programme R with procedures for inference in spatial generalized linear models has been developed.
