Provocative housewives and promiscuous peace doves: The use of gendered history in Scandinavian antinuclear movements 1945-1991.

This proposed PhD project aims to examine the role of gender in public debates on military and peaceful nuclear technology in Scandinavia during the Cold War (1945-1991). Specifically, the project will investigate how women-led protest movements utilized gendered semiotic networks to influence political debates on the role of nuclear technology in contemporary and future military and energy policies.
