Simultaneous CO2 Capture and Renewable Fuel Production by 4D Self-Electro-Promoted Catalyst Concept

Projektdetaljer

Beskrivelse

The production of renewable fuels from CO2 has a long process with a lot of mechanical, electrical, and chemical challenges such as capturing CO2 from flue gases or ambient, production of green hydrogen (H2), and utilizing it to provide renewable fuels that easily can be stored and consumed. This long process leads to the production of expensive green fuel with considerable energy consumption. SimCO2CFuel aims to find an innovative hybrid catalyst material using a novel process to generate H2 from one side as well as to capture CO2, self-promote the catalytic process for production of methanol from the other side, simultaneously, at low pressure. If this concept would be developed, it will create the most compact renewable fuel production process from CO2 that requires only water and a gas stream containing CO2 (flue gas or atmosphere) for operation. This novel catalyst material and hybrid process has significant potential in simultaneous production of fuel and oxygen (O2) in various applications such as space, ocean, and Mars.
