System inertia and voltage stability are the main characteristics of the electrical power system. Caused by an increasingly larger amount of wind energy production, there will be a corresponding reduction in inertia in modern power grid. Moreover, the long distance between wind farm and load center usually causes larger transmission impedance. Thus, the modern power grid with high percentage of wind energy always suffers from voltage and frequency instability issues, which needs to be solved and improved urgently.

This Ph.D. project focuses on achieving a farm-level fully-distributed collaborative control strategy that can improve the stability of wind generation system under weak grid condition. To achieve this goal, voltage support and frequency support of wind generation system based on permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) are the research focuses. Besides, more factors will be considered in multiple wind turbines system to realize the unified and collaborative control in farm level.
