Strategic Competence Development



    This PhD project is part of research focusing on ways in which companies can develop their competencies as an integral part of corporate strategic management. The project is carried out in cooperation with Crisplant A/S. The premise guiding the research is that the overall organizational strategies-including competitive priorities-should be supported and enabled by the competencies of the company. Organizational learning is assumed the most appropriate means in which to develop these competencies, as most are characterized by a high degree of imbedded learning. This PhD project will focus on complex competencies in which a large number of people interact in cross-functional business processes, e.g. a product development process. The main contributions from the project will be the development and testing of methods and theories for generating and supporting organizational learning processes leading to competence development.
