The Unthinkable Reform

A decision making analysis of the formation of the 2004 local government reform in Denmark. The project uncovers the interplay between elected decision makers, government leaders, organized interests, and experts that eventually led to the reform. The project was part of a larger research program on the local government reform, based on a 4 million DKR grant from “Den Kommunale Momsfond”. The main publication from the project “Den utænkelige reform” was in 2009 awarded the Professor Sven Henningsen Prize for “Best book of the year published in the field of Political Science and History”. The project was associated with intensive public dissemination, media appearances, several invited speeches and guest lectures.
