abstract = "In this chapter, we attempt to bring together some strands explored in the volume and further theorise links between gender relations and island settings. We are especially inspired by how love, affection, power, and politics came up as recurrent themes in our conversations. To investigate how and why this occurred, we engaged in an ongoing dialogue with each other from each side of the Atlantic Ocean, about our rather different experiences of island living and gendered realities in our various settings. Following a brief introduction, the chapter includes three sections, each marking a point of dialogue inspired by several questions which came up regarding the meaning and need for an anthology like this one. These questions include: If we feel love and affection for particular (island) places, what does this mean for what we see? If we study island life and island communities through love and affection, how may this impact discoveries regarding the power and politics of island life? Would it be possible to shape the power dynamics and politics of island life through such loving and affectionate approaches?",
