Abstract

Recent advances in science and technology of nanomaterials have enabled the design of novel inorganic membranes with enhanced water purification performance. These new generations of membranes can achieve ultrafast water transport, are highly selective toward water molecules, possess high tolerance to harsh environments, and can be integrated with additional functionalities, such as antifouling, antibacterial, and detoxification properties, thus improving the economy of traditional filtration processes and expanding their field of application.
