Abstract
Ensuring satisfaction with mechanical ventilation is of interest, since actions taken by a dissatisfied end users might lead to higher running and maintenance costs of ventilation systems, or deteriorate the indoor climate quality. The aim of this study is to collect experiences and statements related to the newly installed mechanical ventilation in renovated apartment buildings, with the intention of identifying potential barriers that might results in systematic malfunction of mechanical ventilation systems, leading to dissatisfaction for the end users. The study is carried out with qualitative methods, where 6 occupants and 20 building related staff from 11 renovated apartment buildings are interviewed. Results shows that occupants and building related staff experience dissatisfaction due to irritation factors, such as; lack of control, dryness, draft and malodour. Further studies must be carried out in order to identify whether systematic malfunction in current design of ventilation systems in renovated apartment buildings takes place.
