N2 - In this paper, two common-mode voltage (CMV) reduction methods are proposed for the three-to-five-phase indirect matrix converter. The effectiveness of the proposed CMV reduction methods is due to the reconfiguration of the zero vectors from the inversion stage to the rectification stage in modulation schemes. In theory, the proposed methods not only reduce the peak value of the CMV by up to 27.9% but also improve the differential-mode performance of the output voltage, thus benefiting the electromagnetic interference design. Moreover, the voltage transfer ratio, the spectrum of the resultant CMV, and the total harmonic distortions of the current and voltage are analyzed in this paper, where, thus, the pros and cons of the proposed modulation schemes are presented. Simulations and experimental tests are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
