Abstract

The decarbonization of the European energy system towards 2050 requires a large, long and sustained transformation away from traditional fossil fuel-based technologies and towards a system based on renewable energy sources complemented by both new and well-known energy conversion, storage and transmission technologies. The goal of this deliverable is to identify the necessary and potential technologies for a transition towards renewable decarbonized energy systems.
