N2 - International inspirations in the shape of travelling ideas, knowledge and practices have always played an important part in Danish educational policy and developments. The present article throws light on the role of international inspirations in the period 1968-1982 focussing on international organisations, educational experiments, and university study programs. This was a very turbulent period where Denmark went from economic prosperity to economic crisis causing great societal upheavals including in education, but the existing historiography only pays scarce attention to the role of international factors in the development of the Danish educational field in this period. Utilizing different kinds of documentary and literature and with analytical inspiration from the spatial turn manifest within recent international history of education research, the article discusses and analyses this period. Even though Danish education policy in the period leaves the impression of a degree of self-centeredness and the international inspirations appear to be rather unnoticed, the analysis of the selected areas clearly shows that international cooperation and influence have played a significant role and that further investigations of these connections and their implications is a fruitful path for future research endeavours.
