Abstract
The Kingdom of Denmark consists of three parts: Denmark (Danmark), Faroe Islands (Føroyar) and Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat). While Denmark is geographically part of the European continent, the Faroe Islands are situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, while Greenland is the world’s largest island with an indigenous arctic population. The Kingdom of Denmark is by virtue of Greenland an Arctic coastal state, has strong interests in Arctic affairs and the Arctic legal order, and the Arctic Council. The Kingdom of Denmark’s is a party to the Antarctic Treaty where its interests are mostly connected to scientific interests and the effects of climate change.
