Abstract
The international literature on co-housing has for a long time called for more market actors to be involved in the provision of co-housing. However, few studies have been made on the implications of such market-driven approaches. In this paper, we present recent experiences from Denmark on developer-driven co-housing which represents a considerable change compared to the hitherto predominant resident-driven approach. Our findings suggest that residents generally welcome the main features of the developer-driven co-housing which may also create a more mixed residential composition. We also find that the facilitation of the community and the organizational structure needs further attention and development.
