Abstract
This paper presents a critical review of the development
process of two angular sensor solutions utilizing magnetic
sensing. The objective is to accurately measure the rotational
valve opening in a Orbital Steering Power Unit (OSP), which
determines the flow rate of oil required for steering power.
Currently there are none available products that allow for direct
determination of the valve opening and the relationship between
this angle and the metered flow from an OSP. A displacement
sensor for the valve opening offers more accurate insights for
product development and application of the steering unit. It
could potentially be used for active control features and system
optimization, for-example, the power distribution and usage for
electrical off-road vehicles.
