Doing Defending Differently: Re-Processing the Becoming of a Sympoietic Research-Creation in a Minor Key

In this paper, we strive to continue and sustain the emerging process constituted in and by the performing of a particular research-creation, which included a Ph.D. dissertation, a Ph.D. defence in addition to a bouquet of paper flowers, Pete Seeger, several origami balls, and a homemade tattoo, among many other elements. The purpose of this paper, however, is not to answer the question of how an artwork can be regarded as an ecology. In fact, it may be said that what emerges here does not even have a purpose, at least not one that can be identified, defined, and articulated unambiguously now or later, here or there. Rather, we hope that something else, something different, something not-yet, something more-than might emerge. But this something is not ours to control, and with that, let us return to allow the emerging that has always already begun to begin again and anew.
