Abstract
This study explores thirty subjects' preferences for a dynamic lighting concept consisting of a general lighting system and a LED desk lamp (task lighting). The study was conducted in a daylight laboratory furnished as a typical Danish office environment with daylight access, and the subjects were positioned ~2 respectively ~4 meters from the window. Both the general lighting and desk lamp could be adjusted in correlated colour temperature (CCT) while the general lighting could also be adjusted in intensity. The study was an extension of previous studies conducted without a desk lamp and with subjects positioned only at 4 m from window. The study explored preferences and power demand for different seasons, the influence of the desk lamp and the different positions in the room.
The results showed that the general lighting preferences did not vary with the distance from window. The results indicated some energy saving potential during the summer season compared with the winter and autumn seasons. A method was presented for enhancing personal preferences within the concept while considering energy efficiency. Changes were made for light levels and CCT throughout the day both for the task light and for general lighting.
