Abstract

This paper presents an experimental analysis on night ventilation with wall-attached jet system. In this night ventilation scheme, wall jet is generated by the induced cool outdoor air flowing downward over the inner surface of concrete wall. Full-scale experiments have been performed to study the cooling effect of night ventilation system in Chongqing, China. The velocity gradient of the air curtain in the near wall region is measured. Obvious decline of inner wall surface temperature and room air temperature is observed at the moment when ventilation starts. The wall surface cooling efficiency index and room air distribution efficiency index are defined and calculated. The experimental results reveal that high momentum of wall jet contributes to the cooling effect of walls and room air.
