Abstrakt

The climate is constantly changing and is already affecting our future. The construction sector has become energy-intensive and a serious source of pollution. Today, houses use more energy and fossil fuels than ever before. In fact, buildings currently consume more than one-third of all energy and two-thirds of all electricity used in the United States and the European Union (EU). Ideas of efficient energy use in buildings are being developed to solve these problems, noticed almost three decades ago.

Renovation of detached houses is a topic less discussed than renovation of apartment buildings, but single-family houses should also be included in the renovation process and turned into zero energy buildings, which will be the standard in the near future of today’s construction sector.

Read about the list of conclusions the investigations of a renovation project of a detached house into a nearzero energy building and an analysis of the social survey results.
