This paper concerns the analysis of noise transmission in a lightweight panel structure. The analysis is based on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) employing solid elements for the structure. The analysis focuses on flanking noise transmission in panel structures of finite size. A parametric study is carried out regarding the influence of the presence of ribs within the panels. The ribs are placed at an exact periodic distance and the study concerns a simplified model, in which a narrow strip of the panel is considered to reduce computation time. A comparison is made for different loading positions and different designs of the ribs regarding the energy contained within the panel strip. The paper presents an analysis of vibrational energy transmission for an isotropic periodic panel strip excited by a concentrated force. The computations are carried out in frequency domain in the range below 2 kHz.
