Resumé

The research of this thesis was conducted based on an increase of
the complexity in the building industry which influences time and
cost overruns of building projects.
Through participant observations of a case study concerning a university
building, collaboration and structures of design topics were
identified as significant aspects influencing time and cost overruns
of the building project.
Based on the methodology of “Knotworking” and the collected
data, the results of this research are a web-based guideline called
“Who does What When” as well as the visual management tool
called “The Brink Tool”.
The research concludes that the building industry is prone to improvements
and that both the guideline “Who does What When”
and the tool “The Brink Tool” are applicable in practice to support
improvements of the building industry.
