Abstract

Fractionation of lemon and bergamot essentiaI oiIs with supercritical carbon dioxide as
soIvent was studied by means of a continuous countercurrent process. Experiments were
performed by an isothermal isobaric stripping column equipped with a high efficiency
Iaboratory gauze packing. The experimentaI runs showed that a good separation
efficiency can be achieved at a Iow temperature (42-43°C) with soIvent/feed ratio from
30 to 90 and at pressure vaIues not very high (around 8.0-8.5 MPa).
